Self-Introduction Post on the Blog: JONATHAN LUBIN

Introduction Post:

Hello, my name is Jonathan Lubin a born native of Jersey City. I’ve lived out here for most of my life and I have seen many drastic changes throughout the years. I am currently a senior at NJCU and I’m a criminal justice major. I haven’t decided what I want to do with my degree yet, but it will be something worthwhile. I see myself more as an introvert and a hard worker. It’s just something I’ve learned to accept and it’s an attribute to work on. As my occupation I sell sneakers at a store called “Kickclusive” and I do part-time positions for other companies. I love basketball, horror movies, music, and many more abstracts of society. Society changes as I get older and I’m just adjusting to the flow of life.

Understanding Patriarchy by bell hooks

“Most men never think about patriarchy, what it means how it is created and sustained.”

“Patriarchy is the single most life-threatening social disease assaulting the male body and spirit in our nation.”

It all depends on how you were raised because everyone has a different lifestyle while living as an American. How you treat other people based on how you were raised could have many meanings which will eventually contribute to society. Men who are raised to be leaders have that specific mindset, because that’s what they were taught, they believe they own certain things based on their gender role.

What Memes Owe to Art History

“Memes are hardwired with an unpredictability and a “hackable” interface or template that can be easily appropriated and overwritten—anyone can make a meme.

“Memes aren’t an innocent process—they carry serious political weight, and not always of the activist variety,”

Memes are created to be unique, and they have different meanings. Depending on how mature you are and how you absorb certain information, it could either be something you learn from or something you begin to hate.

Memes Are Our Generation's Protest Art

Abuse of power. They spread so quickly and evolve and transform, and it’s hard to shut them down.”

“Memes can spread far more quickly than the songs or art projects of previous generations.”

Memes have so many meanings and teachings depending on what type of picture or video is presented. Memes are part of our generation, and it has slowly changed society. It has contributed to social media and news bringing laughter, confusion, anger, and other emotions out of people. Memes bring a certain aspect to the world and will continue to dominate with their unique ideas.
