Chapter 5 and 6 Alan L

 Chapter 5

"A bit of Knowledge about how the mind and brain work, and a creative, story-based approached to activism, allow us to bypass some of the cognitive barriers that stand our way". (194)

Mainly this quote looks more like a strategy for someone who is trying to experience about storytelling. But this important for audiences to trying listening to them because sometimes these stories can be un-believable. But this tool is mostly for activist artists. Since activist artists can mostly use this ability to show the world what is one thing to change. I also see this is true because sometimes people want to spread something but also some people can be nervous to show what is happening to the world because people want to explain something what is happening and showing a sign to see how can people be more attention to this explanation.

"The Problem with a lot of activism and a lot of art is that it isn't surprising at all. When we stage at protest in a public space with placards on poles and loudly chanting  in a public space with placards on poles and loudly chanting syncopated slogans, no one is surprised." (196)

This can be true since sometimes this can be true. Where mostly protests does happen in public and it does show how can audience won't be surprised. But it also depends why people are protests. You can take a look at the SAG strike where it was just mostly actors and directors and writers protesting and fewer audience decided to join too to support the strike. But also it does see what can be going on in the world right now which now there a differences on protests at this moment which the strike had fewer audiences and the Palestine protest has more audiences that are supporting this.

Chapter 6

"It is very, very difficult to persuade most people to give up their old ways and try something new. In part this is because people having their own ways of making sense of the world and when presented with arguments that run counter their views they either ignore them or fit them into the cognitive and behavioral patterns they've already developed." (211)

I can agree into this and the reason why is because it is true that sometimes there are things that you liked in the past for example like a car like it has a old style that you liked and you found very comfortable and it needs to be upgraded for a reason and you feel like it's not that comfterble. So it is going to be tough to handle it and also it is really tough to see how can things can change but also see that you want things how it wants to be like the old style and see how it was during the past your own things.

"Ideas and awareness are important. That's how people change their minds and then take action. One requires the other, and getting people to think and talk about an issue is absolutely critical."

Which I feel like this is true and the reason why is because sometimes if something needs to speak up about something. People have rights to speak up but think about what they are planning to do to speak up. And sometimes people do take the action for doing it and also doing protests for what it needs to do anywhere or anything to be fixed because a lot of people are complaining about things and what they do they take actions for example: If your in a job and your having a hard time finding parking and your manager complains to you that you 5 minutes. What you do you fight back and complain what is really happening because it is your own rights to do it and protest about your situation.

Looking at this it shows how people are taking their own actions and protesting which shows how can people really speak up and see how can people really show. This is mostly interesting because using these materials shows how can action really work and showing how can complains work.
