Self Introduction.

Introduction

Hello everyone i'm Aziel Velasquez I am a marketing major and this is my senior year at NJCU. A few of my interests include reading, spending time with my friends, and traveling. Over winter break I was lucky enough to visit Mexico and Puerto Rico. I am the oldest out of three, so occasionally, I like to go out with my friends to relieve some stress. I enjoy going to parties and lots of concerts. My favorite show that I attended this summer has to be Drake. It was an unforgettable experience, and the fact that I got to live it out with my best friend made the experience even better. I also visited the Museum of Natural History and was able to see many cool things such as an origami tree and the real whale replica. In the future, I plan to live in the city, its something I've always dreamed of. As for my career I would like to work in Public Relations.

Quotes

Memes Are Our Generations Protest Art

“They can help bring attention to issues of injustices. They circulate in a way that keeps up with that social media flow of information.” Thinking of memes in a political way is something that has never crossed my mind. To me memes are meant to be funny, something that helps people forget about what is going on in the world and have a laugh. I believe that memes are something that will forever stand the test of time. As the world changes their will be many more memes to come.

"Most people interact with these images in fleeting ways as they scroll through their feeds, but creating or consuming political memes that align with one’s point of view can be therapeutic. They reflect what’s happening in society, and help justify feelings of rage and fear while helping us feel less alone." Art has always been a way of expressing ourselves it is how we can be heard and understood. Memes don't always have to be funny, sometimes memes are used to get a point across. all it takes is for someone to have a look at a meme that catches their attention and all that person will be thinking about for the rest of the day will be the meme.

What Memes owe to Art History

"Easy to make, easy to share; instantly recognizable and a little nonsensical; a hilarious and at times sickly-sweet jab at the world’s blunders, scandals, protests, and hypocrisies" Memes are for everyone and like the quote states, easy to make and easy to share. whether it is for political matters or just for fun memes have a place in every situation.

"Similarly, memes offer a highly accessible and interactive platform of production that is ripe for challenge and dissent, with disagreements and controversy only fueling the fire of a successful meme truly going viral" I believe what this quote is trying to explain is that no matter how good or bad a meme is if it fuel fire to an argument or provokes some type of feeling in a person. The meme was well executed and delivered the message across.

 Understanding Patriarchy

"At the church they had learned God created men to rule the world and everything in it and it was the work of women to help men preform these task, to obey, and to always assume a subordinate role in relation to a powerful man" I find irony in the quote and it stuck out to me particulary because if the man was chosen by God to rule the world why is it still the womens reponsibilty to help them achieve what they were born to do, it also dawned on me that the reason many people have this mentality is because it steamed from religion and by doing that many people believe they're serving god

"In her service to patriarchy her task was to reinforce that Dad done the right thing by putting me in my place, by restoring the natural social order." After reading what occurred, I wonder if her mom ever thought of defending her or ever felt remorse afterwards. As a daughter if my mom ever did what Bell Hooks mom did to her I would feel betrayed and hurt.
