For my final intervention, I'm going to create a zine dedicated to families of different diasporas. Every family has a story and most foreign families have been greatly affected by immigration. I also would like to interview some people and ask them about their family+why they chose to be a part of this project. For the zine, I want to incorporate pieces of their history like photographs, letters, architecture, fashion references etc. My goal for this project is to take the bitterness out of the melting pot that is America and amplify those who don't have a voice. In America, it's so easy to get treated like a speck of dust in the grand scheme of things, it's important to commemorate these marginalized groups because we're a byproduct of our ancestors.
I was heavily inspired to create this project by Riot Grrrl zines from the 90s. I also took inspiration from the Guerrilla Girls archives as well as this organization called the Honduran Archive (@honduranarchive on ig).
