4/3 -Jordan Chapman

Chapter 5

"The facts are what matter in court: if we veer from the question at hand, objections will be raised, and if we demonstrate inappropriate emotions, we may be charged with contempt."

This important quote was stated inside this chapter because it plays a big part in the Activism conversation. I say this because they use visuals in the court to show the facts as extra proof of what they had already said by word of mouth.

"Facts alone don't win cases; rather, as the producers of Matlock understood, lawyers telling persuasive stories about facts win cases."

This quote says that you need more than just facts to win cases, sometimes people need actual visual proof of what's going on and what problem you are trying to solve and that's where art activism comes into play as well.

Chapter 6

"It is very, very difficult to persuade most people to give up their old ways and try something new"

This is very true it is really difficult to change someone's perspective and to try something new because they are so focused on one thing and loyal to that certain way of learning. You have to do a lot of talking and physical proof to make someone try something new so they can see if it will be something that they are interested in learning it and taking it to the next level.

"When people don't agree with us, and when they don't change their behaviors in the ways we'd like, we too often dismiss them as bull-headed, ignorant, or even stupid."

We have to understand that not everyone thinks like us and that no is no. We have to just take the answer as what it is and just keep moving, there is no need to call them any names.

This piece of art stood out to me because my interventions have been on mental health and this symbolizes that. I honestly think that this can help me a little bit I'm not really sure how yet but I will see what it can do for me.
