4/3

4/3 -Sheku Koroma

Chapter 5

“The power of community is the greatest weapon against injustice.”

I truly believe in this statement and will continue to do so for many years to come. People are stronger when they are together, no matter the cause. When there is a meaning and belief in a cause, strength in number can make a huge difference in awareness.

"Facts alone don't win cases; rather, as the producers of Matlock understood, lawyers telling persuasive stories about facts win cases."

I think most people would rather experience reality themselves then believe others. It is normal to believe something even more when you see it with your own eyes. I believe you need to have the ability to persuade others, if you want them to earnestly believe facts.

Chapter 6

“Try and understand why people think what they think and do what they do, and then use this to build a better world together.”

I think understanding how people behave, and why they behave is what makes a great leader, and someone capable of changing the world. It also makes you a great conversationalist, because you are able to pick up on little details faster than other which often leads to a better quality conversation.

“The reasoning is both moral and strategic: if we want to change society, we really do need to reach everyone. But let’s be realistic, this is logically impossible. Trying to reach everyone is neither an efficient use of resources, and nor would be effective”

I agree that Trying to reach everyone is is no way efficient, but it is important to realize first that if you can't convince anyone, there's no point at trying at all. I don't think it's impossible to do so, but it will definitely take time.

This piece of art really caught my attention because it reminded me that most people talk about the things they're going to do but often never do it. It also connects to my intervention about action and connection. In my intervention I purposely made myself uncomfortable and did something different. I honestly think that people can do more to help socio-political causes they believe in. That could be as simple as riding a bike to work as an office worker to spread awareness for scarce bike lines in your city.
